Overview

What is an MSc in Fashion
Management in France?

An MSc in Fashion Management is a specialised postgraduate degree that prepares you for leadership roles in the global fashion industry — covering fashion marketing, brand strategy, buying & merchandising, retail management, e-commerce, and sustainable fashion.

Unlike a general MBA or management degree, fashion management programs are built around the unique dynamics of the fashion industry — seasonal collections, fashion weeks, creative direction, textile sourcing, and luxury positioning. France, as the birthplace of haute couture, offers the most industry-immersive programs in the world.

Programs at IFM, ESSEC, ESCP, and SKEMA include mandatory internships at fashion houses, live projects with brands like LVMH and Kering, and direct access to Paris Fashion Week — experiences that no other country can replicate.

Why France

6 Reasons France
Is the World's Best
for Fashion Management

No country comes close to France for fashion education. Here is why studying fashion management in Paris is a career-defining decision.

01

Paris = World Fashion Capital

Paris is the undisputed capital of global fashion. More fashion houses, designers, ateliers, and industry events call Paris home than any other city. Studying fashion here means learning at the epicentre of the industry itself.

02

LVMH, Kering, Hermès, Chanel HQs

The world's four largest luxury fashion conglomerates are all headquartered in Paris. LVMH alone owns Louis Vuitton, Dior, Fendi, Givenchy, and Celine — offering unmatched internship and career access.

03

Paris Fashion Week Access

Paris Fashion Week is the pinnacle of global fashion. Students at IFM, ESSEC, and ESCP gain backstage access, industry networking, and live project opportunities during the world's most prestigious fashion event.

04

IFM = World's Top Fashion School

Institut Français de la Mode (IFM) is consistently ranked the world's best fashion school by Business of Fashion. Its Paris campus sits in the heart of the fashion district, with direct pipelines to top maisons.

05

Sustainable Fashion Leadership

France leads the world in sustainable fashion legislation and innovation. French law mandates fashion sustainability reporting — making France the global laboratory for ethical fashion management.

06

2-Year Post-Study Work Visa

France's APS permit gives fashion management graduates the right to live and work in France for two years after graduation — with full Schengen zone access and a direct path to careers at Paris fashion houses.

Eligibility

What Indian Students
Need to Qualify

These are baseline criteria. Our counsellors assess your profile individually and tell you exactly where you stand.

01

Academic Score & Accepted Degrees

Bachelor's degree (3 or 4 years) in any discipline — business, design, arts, humanities, commerce all accepted. IFM and ESSEC expect 70%+ (CGPA 7.0+). ESCP and SKEMA accept 65%+. Mod'Art, EIML, and Paris School of Luxury work with 55%+. Fashion management programs welcome diverse academic backgrounds.

02

Portfolio / Interview

Some schools (IFM, Mod'Art, EIML) require a portfolio or creative project submission. Most business schools (ESSEC, ESCP, SKEMA) require a motivation interview instead. Our team prepares you for both.

03

English Proficiency

IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0) or TOEFL iBT 90+. All top fashion management programs in France are taught entirely in English — no French language requirement for admission.

04

Work Experience

Not mandatory for most fashion MSc programs — they welcome fresh graduates with 0–2 years of experience. However, internships at fashion houses, retail brands, or styling studios significantly strengthen your profile. A mood board or creative portfolio showcasing personal fashion projects, visual merchandising concepts, or brand analyses can set your application apart at IFM and ESSEC.

05

Documents Required

Statement of Purpose (1–2 pages — highlight your passion for fashion, any industry exposure, and creative vision), 2–3 Letters of Recommendation (1 academic + 1 professional or industry mentor preferred), updated CV, all academic transcripts, passport copy, and a creative portfolio if applying to IFM, Mod'Art, or EIML. SOPs are checked for plagiarism — always write your own.

Not sure if you qualify? Our counsellors do a profile analysis and tell you which fashion management schools you can get into — and what it takes to strengthen your application.

Why StudyFrance.in

We've lived this
journey.
We walk it with you.

We've stood where you are — uncertain, hopeful, and afraid of getting it wrong.

What began as our own journey to France became a promise to guide others with honesty, not pressure. Our founders and partners don't just know about France — they live in Europe. Our co-founder pursued her Masters in France and calls Paris home today.

She didn't read about the experience online. She lived it. That means when you talk to us, you get reality — not a sales pitch built on brochures. We tell you what university interviews feel like. What the visa process actually requires. What Paris costs in January. What you'll miss about India, and what you'll love about France.
