Overview

What is a Masters in Wine &
Spirits Management?

A Masters in Wine & Spirits Management is a specialised postgraduate degree that combines the business of wine — marketing, export, brand strategy, finance — with the science and culture of winemaking, viticulture, and oenology.

This is not a sommelier course. It is a full business degree focused on the global wine and spirits industry — worth over $400 billion annually. Graduates manage brands like Moet & Chandon, Hennessy, Pernod Ricard, and Chateau Margaux. They run export operations across 5 continents and lead luxury beverage strategy for the world's most prestigious houses.

France is the only country where you can study this discipline while being physically immersed in Bordeaux, Burgundy, or Champagne — the regions that define global wine culture. LVMH (Moet Hennessy) and Pernod Ricard, the world's two largest luxury spirits conglomerates, are both headquartered in France.

Eligibility

What Indian Students
Need to Qualify

These are baseline criteria. Our counsellors assess your profile individually and tell you exactly where you stand.

01

Academic Score & Accepted Degrees

Bachelor's degree (3 or 4 years) in any stream — business, hospitality, agriculture, science, arts, or engineering. BSB (Burgundy) and ESSEC expect 65%+ (CGPA 6.5+). KEDGE and Bordeaux Sciences Agro accept 60%+. Public universities like Bordeaux and Reims work with 55%+. No prior wine experience required.

02

Passion & Interview

Most wine schools assess genuine passion for the industry through a motivation letter and personal interview. Demonstrated interest in wine, hospitality, or luxury strengthens your application significantly. WSET Level 1 or 2 tasting certifications, while not mandatory, are a strong differentiator at BSB and KEDGE.

03

English Proficiency

IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0) or TOEFL iBT 90+. All top wine programs are taught fully in English — NO French language requirement. ESSEC accepts an MOI certificate if your bachelor's was taught entirely in English for 3+ years. French courses are offered as optional modules.

04

Work Experience

Not strictly mandatory, but industry passion and exposure matter. Internships or experience in wine retail, vineyard operations, sommelier work, luxury hospitality, or beverage distribution significantly strengthen your application. BSB and KEDGE value candidates with WSET tasting certifications (Level 1–3) or hands-on experience in wine tourism and cellar management.

05

Documents Required

Statement of Purpose (1–2 pages, essay-style), 2–3 Letters of Recommendation (1 academic + 1 professional preferred), updated CV, all academic transcripts, passport copy, and any relevant WSET certifications or wine industry experience documentation. Important: Charpak Scholarship SOPs are checked for plagiarism and AI-generated content is now flagged — always write your own.

Not sure if you qualify? Our counsellors do a profile analysis and tell you which wine schools you can get into — and what it takes to strengthen your application.

Why StudyFrance.in

We've lived this
journey.
We walk it with you.

We've stood where you are — uncertain, hopeful, and afraid of getting it wrong.

What began as our own journey to France became a promise to guide others with honesty, not pressure. Our founders and partners don't just know about France — they live in Europe. Our co-founder pursued her Masters in France and calls Paris home today.

She didn't read about the experience online. She lived it. That means when you talk to us, you get reality — not a sales pitch built on brochures. We tell you what university interviews feel like. What the visa process actually requires. What Paris costs in January. What you'll miss about India, and what you'll love about France.

"We are always there to help or guide you — anytime — from India to France, forever."
