What is an MSc in
Sustainability Management?
An MSc in Sustainability Management — also called MSc in Sustainable Development, CSR, or ESG Management — is a postgraduate degree that prepares you to lead the transition to a sustainable global economy. It covers ESG strategy, climate risk, circular economy, impact investing, and corporate social responsibility.
Unlike a general MBA that treats sustainability as an elective, this degree makes it the core. You learn to integrate environmental and social impact into every business decision — from supply chain to boardroom strategy.
France is the natural home for this discipline. The Paris Agreement was signed here. France's Loi PACTE legally mandates CSR. The EU Green Deal is driven from Paris and Brussels. French business schools don't just teach sustainability — they operate within the ecosystem that is building the world's green economy.

6 Reasons France
Leads the World in
Sustainability Education
No country has embedded sustainability into law, business, and education the way France has. Here is why studying sustainability here is a categorically different decision.
Paris Agreement Host Nation
The Paris Agreement was signed here in 2015 — the most significant global climate accord in history. France doesn't just talk about sustainability; it leads the global conversation. Studying sustainability where it was born gives you unmatched credibility.
EU Green Deal Leadership
France is a driving force behind the European Green Deal — the EU's €1 trillion plan to make Europe climate-neutral by 2050. French graduates are at the forefront of implementing this transformation across industries.
Loi PACTE — CSR by Law
France's Loi PACTE (2019) legally requires companies to consider their social and environmental impact. This created a massive demand for CSR and sustainability professionals — and French graduates are first in line.
ESG & Impact Investing Hub
Paris is Europe's fastest-growing hub for ESG investing and impact finance. BNP Paribas, Amundi, and AXA lead global sustainable finance from here — creating thousands of green finance careers for graduates.
Sustainable Luxury Brands
LVMH, Kering, and Hermès are pioneering sustainable luxury from Paris. The intersection of luxury and sustainability is uniquely French — and creates career paths that exist nowhere else in the world.
2-Year Post-Study Work Visa
France's APS permit gives you the right to live and work in France after graduation, with full Schengen zone access — a direct path to European sustainability careers and long-term residency.

What Indian Students
Need to Qualify
These are baseline criteria. Our counsellors assess your profile individually and tell you exactly where you stand.
Academic Score & Accepted Degrees
Bachelor's degree (3 or 4 years) in any stream — engineering, commerce, environmental science, arts, social sciences. HEC Paris and ESSEC expect 80%+ (CGPA 8.0+). ESCP and EDHEC accept 70%+. KEDGE, SKEMA, and Grenoble EM work with 60%+. Prior sustainability experience is valued but not mandatory.
GMAT / GRE
A GMAT of 600–680 strengthens applications at HEC, ESSEC, ESCP. Several schools waive GMAT for strong profiles. A good score also unlocks 10%–50% scholarships at most schools. Plan to take the GMAT 4–6 months before your application deadline.
English Proficiency
IELTS 6.5 (no band below 6.0) or TOEFL iBT 90+. All sustainability programs listed here are fully taught in English. ESSEC accepts an MOI certificate if your bachelor's was taught entirely in English for 3+ years. Students from English-medium Indian colleges often qualify for waivers.
Work Experience
Not strictly mandatory, but experience in ESG reporting, CSR projects, NGO work, environmental consulting, or sustainability audits significantly strengthens your application. HEC and ESSEC value 6–12 months of relevant professional exposure. Volunteering with climate organisations, UN SDG projects, or social enterprises is also highly regarded.
Documents Required
Statement of Purpose (1–2 pages, essay-style), 2–3 Letters of Recommendation (1 academic + 1 professional preferred), updated CV, all academic transcripts, passport copy, and any relevant ESG reports, sustainability project documentation, or NGO certificates. Important: Charpak Scholarship SOPs are checked for plagiarism and AI-generated content is now flagged — always write your own.
Not sure if you qualify? Our counsellors do a profile analysis and tell you which schools you can get into — and what it takes to strengthen your application.
