What is an MSc in
Hospitality Management?
An MSc in Hospitality Management is a specialised postgraduate degree that prepares you to lead in the global hospitality, tourism, and luxury services industry — from hotel operations and revenue management to guest experience design and F&B strategy.
Unlike a general MBA, the MSc in Hospitality Management gives you deep industry expertise. You study hotel operations, luxury brand management, culinary leadership, tourism economics, and service design — with mandatory internships at leading hotel groups and hospitality brands.
And there is no better place to study it than France. The country that invented the Palace hotel classification, gave the world the Michelin Guide, and remains home to Accor (5,400+ hotels) and LVMH Hospitality (Cheval Blanc, Belmond). Schools like ESSEC, Vatel, and Institut Paul Bocuse offer programs with unmatched industry access.

6 Reasons France Is
the Best Place to Study
Hospitality Management
No country combines tourism scale, luxury heritage, culinary excellence, and industry access like France. Here is what makes studying hospitality here a categorically different decision.
World's #1 Tourist Destination
France welcomes 90+ million visitors every year — more than any other country on earth. This means unmatched industry scale, internship opportunities, and direct exposure to how global hospitality operates at the highest level.
Birthplace of Luxury Hospitality
The Palace hotel classification, the Michelin Guide, the concept of haute cuisine — all born in France. Studying here means learning hospitality where its gold standards were invented.
Accor & LVMH Hospitality HQs
Accor (5,400+ hotels worldwide) and LVMH Hospitality (Cheval Blanc, Belmond) are headquartered in Paris. Students gain direct access to internships, networking, and recruitment at these global giants.
Michelin Guide Origin
The Michelin Guide — the world's most prestigious restaurant rating system — was born in France. Studying hospitality here gives you an understanding of culinary excellence that no other country can match.
Best Culinary Heritage on Earth
French gastronomy is UNESCO-listed intangible cultural heritage. From Lyon's bouchons to Paris's Palace kitchens, France's culinary legacy directly shapes how hospitality is taught and practised worldwide.
2-Year Post-Study Work Visa
France's APS permit gives you the right to live and work in France after graduation, with full Schengen zone access — a direct path to European hospitality careers and residency.

What Indian Students
Need to Qualify
These are baseline criteria. Our counsellors assess your profile individually and tell you exactly where you stand.
Academic Score & Accepted Degrees
Bachelor's degree (3 or 4 years) in any discipline — hotel management, business, tourism, culinary arts, BBA, BCom all accepted. ESSEC expects 70%+ (CGPA 7.0+). SKEMA and EM Lyon accept 65%+. Vatel, Paul Bocuse, and Ferrandi work with 55%–60%. No prior hospitality work experience required for most MSc programs.
GMAT / GRE Score
ESSEC prefers GMAT 620+ or GRE 310+. SKEMA accepts GMAT 550+. Many hospitality-focused schools like Vatel, Paul Bocuse, and Ferrandi do not require GMAT at all. A strong score can unlock merit scholarships worth 10%–40% of tuition.
English Proficiency
IELTS 6.0–6.5 (no band below 5.5) or TOEFL iBT 80–90+. Programs are taught fully in English — no French language requirement. Students from English-medium Indian colleges often qualify for waivers.
Work Experience
Not mandatory for most hospitality MSc programs — they welcome fresh graduates with 0–2 years of experience. However, internships at hotels, restaurants, resorts, or event management companies significantly strengthen your application at ESSEC and SKEMA. Front-desk operations, F&B service, or any guest-facing hospitality role demonstrates industry commitment and is highly valued by admissions committees.
Documents Required
Statement of Purpose (1–2 pages — highlight your passion for hospitality, any operational experience, and career goals in hotel management, luxury hospitality, or F&B leadership), 2–3 Letters of Recommendation (1 academic + 1 professional or industry mentor preferred), updated CV, all academic transcripts, passport copy, and any relevant hospitality certifications. SOPs are checked for plagiarism — always write your own.
Not sure if you qualify? Our counsellors do a profile analysis and tell you which hospitality schools you can get into — and what it takes to strengthen your application.
