Understanding the French
Higher Education System
France's higher education system is uniquely structured around three types of institutions, each with a distinct purpose, selection process, and career outcome. Understanding these differences is the first step to choosing the right path.
Public Universities (72 institutions) are open-access, state-funded, and charge near-zero tuition. They cover every discipline from sciences to humanities and award internationally recognised Licence, Master, and Doctorat degrees. Research output is exceptional — France ranks #6 globally.
Grandes Écoles are elite, selective institutions that require competitive entrance exams. They specialise in engineering (like École Polytechnique) or business (like HEC Paris) and produce a disproportionate share of France's leaders in industry, government, and research.
Business Schools (Écoles de Commerce) focus on management, finance, and international business. France has more Triple Crown accredited schools than any other country. Many teach entirely in English and offer multi-campus global experiences.

6 Reasons to Study
at a French University
France combines world-class education with near-zero tuition, generous student support, and unmatched post-study work rights. Here is what makes it a categorically better choice.
Near-Zero Tuition at Public Universities
Public university fees are just €243/yr for EU students and €3,770/yr for non-EU students at Master’s level. That’s roughly 10x cheaper than comparable degrees in the UK or US — making France one of the most affordable quality education destinations in the world.
5 Universities in QS Top 100
PSL Research University (#26), École Polytechnique (#48), Sorbonne Université (#59), Université Paris-Saclay (#62), and Sciences Po (#112) consistently rank among the world’s best. France punches well above its weight in global higher education.
Research Powerhouse
France produces 4% of global research output, ranking #6 worldwide. With institutions like CNRS, INSERM, and INRIA, French universities are at the cutting edge of physics, mathematics, medicine, AI, and climate science.
1,700+ English-Taught Programmes
French universities offer over 1,700 programmes taught entirely in English — and the number is growing each year. French language is not mandatory for admission to most English-taught programmes, though basic French improves daily life.
2-Year Post-Study Work Visa + 5-Year Alumni Visa
France’s APS permit gives graduates the right to live and work in France for 2 years after graduation, with full Schengen zone access. After returning home, alumni can apply for a 5-year multi-entry visa to France.
Student-Friendly Country
€1 meals at CROUS university restaurants, up to €200/month CAF housing aid, part-time work permitted up to 20 hours/week, and subsidised public transport. France actively invests in making student life affordable and accessible.

We've lived this
journey.
We walk it with you.
We've stood where you are — uncertain, hopeful, and afraid of getting it wrong.
What began as our own journey to France became a promise to guide others with honesty, not pressure. Our founders and partners don't just know about France — they live in Europe. Our co-founder pursued her Masters in France and calls Paris home today.
She didn't read about the experience online. She lived it. That means when you talk to us, you get reality — not a sales pitch built on brochures. We tell you what university interviews feel like. What the visa process actually requires. What Paris costs in January. What you'll miss about India, and what you'll love about France.
